Pustak is a community-driven initiative dedicated to making education accessible. We believe that privacy is a fundamental right, especially for students and educators. This policy explains how we handle your information.

1. No Personal Data Collection

Pustak does not require an account to use. We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or any other personally identifiable information (PII).

2. Local-Only Storage

Your textbook library, reading progress, custom book bundles, and app preferences are stored exclusively in your browser's local storage (IndexedDB). This data never leaves your device and is not accessible to us or any third party.

3. Third-Party Services

To provide you with educational content, Pustak communicates with the following external domains:

• NCERT (ncert.nic.in): We fetch textbook PDFs and covers directly from the official NCERT servers.
• Supabase: We fetch the book catalog and search index from our secure database to keep your library updated.

These services may receive technical information like your IP address, which is standard for any web request, but they do not receive any personal data from Pustak.

4. Permissions Usage

We only ask for permissions that are strictly necessary for the app to function. For example, "Unlimited Storage" is used to save your books for offline reading, and "Alarms" is used to keep your catalog synchronized in the background.

5. No Tracking or Analytics

We do not use any tracking pixels, third-party cookies, or invasive analytics. We have no interest in tracking your study habits or browsing history.

6. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal reasons. Any updates will be posted on this page.
